Day by day
- Departure and small tour — Arrive in Moshi, settle into your hotel, explore the town or nearby coffee plantations, markets or cultural villages, and attend the evening pre-trek briefing.
- Moshi to Machame Gate to Machame Camp — Transfer to Machame Gate (1,800m), register and trek for six to seven hours through rainforest to Machame Camp (3,000m).
- Machame Camp to Shira Camp — Leave the rainforest for heather and moorland on a five-to-six-hour climb to Shira Camp (3,840m).
- Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower — Climb to Lava Tower (4,630m) for lunch and acclimatisation, then descend to Barranco Camp (3,960m) over seven to eight hours.
- Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp via Karanga — Scale the Barranco Wall, cross alpine desert to Karanga for lunch and continue to Barafu Camp (4,640m) over seven to eight hours.
- Summit attempt and descent to Mweka Camp — Start at midnight, climb for six to seven hours to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), watch the sunrise and descend via Barafu to Mweka Camp (3,100m).
